New York, New York and San Francisco, California ( PressReleaseCollection ) May 08th 2010 - Dr. Heidi Horsley and Dr. Gloria Horsley, Co-Founders of the Open to Hope Foundation and Co-Hosts of Open to Hope Radio are excited to announce that the Billy Esposito Foundation has nominated them to receive the “Healing Hand Award” at their 8th annual fundraising gala at the Tribeca Rooftop in New York City, on May 17th, 2010 from 6:30 pm -10:00 pm.

“We’re honored to be given this award by another dynamic mother-daughter team, who also did something good for the world, after profound loss, commented Dr. Heidi Horsley, Executive Director for The Open to Hope Foundation.

The Billy Esposito Foundation was launched as a direct result of the death of Billy Esposito on September 11, 2001. Its mission is to meet bereaved children and families wherever they are in their grief and fulfill their needs in a caring and knowledgeable environment through services to help them with their emotional journey and financial assistance to aid their future education.

Children, teens and families who have experienced the death of someone special now have a caring place to go for help, hope, and healing in New York City: A Caring Hand, The Billy Esposito Bereavement Center.

About Dr. Heidi Horsley

Dr. Heidi Horsley, PsyD, MSW, MS, is a bereaved sibling and a licensed psychologist and social worker. Dr. Heidi is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Open to Hope Foundation and an adjunct professor at Columbia University. She has a private practice in Manhattan, NY specializing in grief and loss. She is also author of “Teen Grief Relief” and “Real Men Do Cry”. She holds graduate degrees from the University of San Francisco, Columbia University, and Loyola University.

About Dr. Gloria Horsley

Dr. Gloria C. Horsley, PHD, MFT, CNS, is a bereaved parent, and has worked in the field of family therapy for over twenty years. Dr. Gloria is Founder and President of the Open to Hope Foundation. She serves The Compassionate Friends in a number of roles, including as a Board Director and frequently serves as a media spokesperson in her dual role as a bereaved parent and professional. She is co-author of “Teen Grief Relief” and “Real Men Do Cry.” She holds graduate degrees from the University of Rochester, Syracuse, Greenwich and Holos Universities.
