CASH FOR CANDY

Fort Lauderdale, FL ( Pressreleasecollection ) November 28, 2009 - One area dentist is redefining the phrase “put your money where your mouth is.” This Halloween, trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to Ultimate Smile in Fort Lauderdale and receive $1 per pound. Dr. J. Heider is leading this anti-decay movement by giving away dollars and glowing electric toothbrushes in exchange for cavity-provoking candy. “Ditch the candy, and support our troops, that’s what we’re saying. Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost,” says Dr. Heider. “Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well. Plus, these glowing brushes we're giving out are really cool—they’re like light sabers for your mouth.” Global sugar consumption for kids increases by about 2% annually and currently sits at 50 million tons per year, which means parents need to be sure their kids teeth are being cared for more than ever. Candy, as well as hurting children’s teeth, can lead to hyperactivity and weight gain. In some cases, the wrong types of candy can also lead to broken teeth and damaged braces. Candy will be collected at Ultimate Smile on Monday November 2nd from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. The candy must be unopened. Please no bites. It will then be shipped to troops overseas. Dr. J. Heider's office in Fort Lauderdale emphasizes general family dental care as well as cosmetic procedures. Zila Pharmaceuticals Wins Hygienists Awards for ViziLite Plus and Pro-Select Platinum Scaler/Irrigator

Phoenix, AZ ( PressReleaseCollection ) January 22, 2009 - Zila Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a division of Zila, Inc. (NASDAQ GM: ZILA) and marketer of the ViziLite® Plus with TBlue® system for the early detection of oral abnormalities that could lead to cancer, has been honored with two awards from Hygienetown, the magazine and web community for dental hygienists. Zila’s ViziLite Plus with TBlue won a 2008 Hygiene Townie Choice Award in the Dental Hygiene/Oral cancer screening category, and the company’s Pro-Select® Platinum Ultrasonic Scaler and Heated Irrigator won in the Periodontics/Power scalers/Ultrasonic piezo category. The Townie Choice Award is the only honor bestowed upon dental hygiene products that is determined entirely by clinicians. Hygienetown is an interactive online community of nearly 20,000 clinicians helping hygienists learn from colleagues by sharing their excitement, frustration and treatment successes through message board discussions. Hot topics are summarized for publication in Hygienetown Magazine, which provides valuable insights into research, clinical and business issues for some 66,000 oral health professionals. Winners of the Townie Awards were chosen in online voting by healthcare professionals who cast their votes at www.hygienetown.com and www.dentaltown.com. Results were published in the December 2008 “Special Edition” Townie Choice Award issues of both Dentaltown and Hygienetown Magazines. The awards provide dental professionals with a valued source of information when making difficult purchase decisions. Zila Chairman and CEO, David Bethune, noted, “Dental services are steadily becoming more sophisticated and more technology-driven. State-of-the-art oral cancer screening and gum care are but two of the many areas that benefit from the availability of reliable, clinically proven products, such as ViziLite Plus and the Pro-Select Platinum Ultrasonic Scaler and Heated Irrigator. Highly trained and caring dental hygienists use technology and skill to promote the health of millions every day.” ViziLite Plus is an easy-to-use, disposable technology for the early detection of oral abnormalities including premalignant lesions and cancer. A painless ViziLite Plus exam helps improve dental professionals' ability to identify, evaluate and monitor abnormal lesions. Pro-Select Platinum’s Advanced Comfort TechnologyTM (ACT) automatically adjusts the power level to maintain optimum tip effectiveness in varying clinical conditions, while its Universal Tip Technology allows the clinician to use a single tip to go from gross debridement to definitive root planing in one step. For ease of use, a multi-functional foot pedal allows hands-free operation of all controls. The Pro-Select Platinum functions both as an ultrasonic scaler and an irrigator, delivering up to three heated irrigation solutions contained in a closed, multi-fluid system. An LED handpiece light attachment dramatically illuminates the oral cavity to improve clinical visibility. A lighted, digital display allows clinicians to easily view current settings and functions in use. The Pro-Select Platinum is available in a variety of packages and prices. Both products are marketed to dental professionals by Zila Pharmaceuticals and can be purchased from most national and regional dental distributors.
